The short version: No analytics service, no ad network, no cross-site tracking. One first-party cookie counts visitors anonymously. Bidding needs a card, so I keep your brand name, email, logo, bid amount, and a payment reference. Nothing more, and never your card details.
Who I am
Brand My Roadster is run by Iann ("I", "me"), an individual in San Francisco, California. Contact: @iannwu on X.
What I collect when you bid
- Email address, so I can reach you about your bid: if you are outbid, if you win, and about paying the balance. This is the only reason it is required. Payment receipts and refund notices come from Stripe directly.
- Brand name, logo file, and website. They are what gets published on the car and on this page. An X handle, if you give one, is kept so I can tag you when I post about the car; it is not published on the page.
- Bid amount. The auction cannot work without it, and it is shown publicly on the spot.
- Payment references, the identifiers Stripe returns for your deposit, so it can be refunded if you are outbid or charged for the balance if you win. Card numbers never reach this site; they are entered on Stripe's own checkout page.
I do not ask for your name, address, or phone number, and there is no account to create. Paying the deposit is what identifies a bid.
What is public and what is not
Once your deposit clears, the brand name, logo, website, and bid amount appear on the site. That is the point of the auction. Your email address is never published and never shared with other bidders.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses no analytics service, no advertising network, and no cross-site tracking. It sets one first-party cookie: a random value with nothing about you in it, kept for two years, used only to count how many people have visited and how many are browsing right now. No IP address, browser fingerprint, or user agent is stored with it. Both numbers on the page are anonymous totals.
Your browser also keeps your scroll position during a visit so the page comes back where you left it. That never leaves your browser.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, I keep the email and handle you give me, use them only to tell you about future seasons or cars, and delete them if you ask.
Who processes your data
- Stripe takes and refunds deposits, and holds the card details this site never sees.
- Resend delivers any email this site sends you about your bid.
- Cloudflare routes traffic to the site and keeps standard network logs.
- The site and its database run on a server I operate myself.
I do not sell your data, and I do not use it for anything other than running this auction.
How long I keep it
Bid records stay for as long as the decal is on the car, since they are the record of who bought what. If your bid is refused or you ask me to delete it, it and the uploaded logo go within 30 days.
Records of money (deposits, refunds, charges) are kept for as long as tax law requires, whatever you ask, because that obligation is not mine to waive.
Your rights
Ask me for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion any time: @iannwu on X. I will handle it within a month.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, I will email everyone holding a spot. The date at the top always shows the current version.
